Your Opportunity

Stantec currently has buildings engineering teams serving western Pennsylvania. We are looking to expand our staff in the central Pennsylvania region. Stantec is hiring an Electrical Engineer to be part of the team in western Pennsylvania and will be located in an office in State College. Successful candidates will demonstrate both their ability to work independently and utilize their experience making decisions to complete assigned responsibilities from leadership. We are seeking exceptional candidates who have the commitment to join a world class design firm. The role is to lead all size electrical projects and work as a team member of a larger project. This person should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer all electrical systems or products for a project.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Engagement in all phases of projects from conceptual planning to commissioning

  • Planning and execution of electrical design, preparation of drawings and specifications, and assistance during procurement and construction

  • Working effectively with support personnel and effectively delegating work to supporting staff.

  • Interaction with clients during project design and construction phases, participation in client discussions, attending meetings with contractors addressing construction issues.

  • Multi-disciplinary coordination with project team, coordination of electrical design with architecture, interior design, structural and mechanical systems.

  • Supports project requirements including schematic design narratives, drawing documentation, system design and technical specifications.

  • Handles design development and document preparation in written and computer-aided design formats.

  • Perform site visits for field surveys, construction observation and punch lists.

  • Researches, prepares and presents coordinated design options.

  • Reviews drawings and researches code requirements to comply with city, state and county regulations.

  • Provides input on the creation and editing of technical specifications

  • Produces contract documents that meet required codes and quality assurance standards

  • Maintains current knowledge of technologies and trends, as they apply to the applicable project and market types, and continually strengthens skills.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Effective interpersonal and people management ability

  • Design experience using AutoCAD 2011, Revit 2016 or more recent version and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word and Excel); Revit experience is a definite asset

  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 72 and 101, and the International Building Code and associated family of codes)

  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) with your collaboration with team members in a multi-disciplined environment

  • Interest/experience in the application of green engineering principles; LEED AP certification is a definite asset

  • Professional Engineer certification or ability to obtain Professional Engineer certification upon completion of required experience.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution required

5 years of post-graduation experience in the design of electrical systems of buildings

Experience in consulting engineering environment is strongly preferred
