Stantec Pavement Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts
Stantec's New England Transportation group has an immediate need for an upcoming Senior Pavement Management Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience focus on Pavement Design and Construction Management for progressive municipalities within New England region. This position is in our Burlington, Massachusetts office. This is a senior-level position for an individual with 10 years design experience in pavement management with a focus on project-level pavement evaluations and construction management.
We are looking for Civil Engineers who have a positive attitude, are fast learners, and enjoy working in a team environment. The successful candidates will join a growing team of pavement management professionals and play a lead role in the pavement design of roadways, assembling construction specifications/bid documents, and providing construction oversight and quality assurance testing for projects throughout Massachusetts and New England.
Your Key Responsibilities
Conduct pavement project-level evaluations, subsurface pavement sampling, data analyses, and design of various type pavement structures for state and municipal transportation projects.
Reviewing/approving pavement design submittals, pavement evaluation reports, and geotechnical boring logs.
Provide full and part-time construction phase services support to municipal clients.
Act as resident engineer/ clerk of the works on various small transportation improvement related projects (< $5M in construction).
Provide technical supervision of HMA field and plant inspection testing staff at various construction sites.
Assist with network-level pavement management evaluations, data analyses, and pavement network health reporting as needed.
Perform occasional AutoCAD drafting for various transportation infrastructure improvement projects.
Interact with project teams, clients, and the public.
Work alongside experienced practitioners to expand your knowledge.
Help guide and mentor junior staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
EIT minimum, PE preferred.
Working knowledge of pavement construction methods, materials and DOT specifications.
Demonstrated competence in structural design of highway, airport and municipal pavements using current pavement design methods and software (AASHTO 93, MEPDG, Darwin, PCASE, etc).
Familiarity with flexible and rigid pavements and/or Pavement Management Systems concepts is essential;
Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, experience with MassDOT CAD Standards helpful.
Pro-active attitude, attention to detail, desire to learn, punctual, and highly organized.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and co-workers and provide technical leadership to staff;
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum of 10 years of design and construction phase experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
