Stantec Principal Engineer - Utilities in Birmingham, United Kingdom

We are seeking a Principal Utilities Engineer to join our Utilities team in Northampton or Birmingham working across our Midlands and East Region. This is a great opportunity to join an innovative and ambitious group with a strong forward workload and an established track record.

On a day-to-day basis, you will play an important role within our utilities team, working closely with our civil engineering team too. You will be leading utilities projects providing technical and strategic support for master planning, environmental impact assessment, procurement and delivery. You will engage with and manage client needs, defining project technical specifications, managing risk and commercial requirements.

You will oversee significant utilities projects from conceptual planning stage through to construction. You will also mentor, guide and inspire junior Engineer and Technician colleagues.

Ideally, you will be MEng/BEng qualified and professionally qualified to CEng or IEng. You will have strong experience and knowledge of the Utilities sector and a good network of related contacts in the industry. You will be focused on achieving coordinated solutions, a tactical thinker and effective at communicating with both internal and external parties (for example utility companies, drainage authorities, highway authorities).

Ideally, you will have expertise in utilities design and deliver as part of multi-disciplinary projects for the entire lifecycle – from concept and planning through to detailed design and delivery. You will have a proven record of delivering projects closely with clients across technical disciplines and experience of mentoring and managing the workload of junior team members.

Your passion and experience of delivering quality infrastructure design solutions and managing of processes with regulators and local authorities is most crucial to your success in this role. With key changes afoot in the energy and utilities industry, we are seeking someone is who is not only aware of these issues, but seeks to work collaboratively with colleagues across Stantec (both UK and internationally) to provide best advice for our clients.
