The Business Center Practice Leader (BCPL) is a high-level contributor to our team and provides a unique opportunity to provide leadership and drive the growth and development of our Transportation sector in the Seattle area. Reporting to the Vice President, Regional Business Leader of our Transportation sector, this role will focus on delivering project excellence with our local and regional clients.
The BCPL leads the growth of the Business Center and Stantec’s market position while providing innovative design solutions with exceptional quality and execution that exceed client expectations. The BCPL also works closely with the Business Center Operations Leader (BCOL) to deliver professional services to clients.
Your Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the development and execution of the overall Transportation business strategy and achievement of key operational and performance metrics
Accountable for top-line revenue growth, driving business development in the Seattle area Business Center (BC)
Support the BCOL in meeting established targets for net revenue, gross margin, and operating income target in the BC
Supporting the BCOL in the development of new service lines within the BC and diversification of sectors
Develop and manage training programs to aid in new service line delivery
Establish and grow productive, collaborative relationships internally within the company, and externally with clients
Provide technical expertise and lead technical delivery on a variety of projects and proposals ensuring successful outcomes for our clients and beneficiaries
Oversee risk management related to projects and pursuits including review of contracts, fees and proposals on large pursuits
Participate in all phases of project management including program development, budgeting, planning & design, preconstruction, project implementation, project oversight and project closure
Lead, challenge, and inspire technical staff (including coaching/mentoring young professionals) through substantive engagement and communication
Support BCOL with the health and safety performance of the BC, including the monitoring of leading and lagging indicators, meeting leading indicator goals, and following up on BC Improvement Plans
Support Stantec’s brand awareness through thought leadership and stakeholder engagement

Ability to multitask project management and business development
Entrepreneurial minded with a core understanding of business and the challenges of an engineering and environmental consulting services provider
Experience in preparing comprehensive budget expenditures, overall project schedules, and in planning and managing revenue and expenses for a business unit
Strong technical background working in Transportation
Team player with experience building, leading, and managing a team
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with an ability to clearly convey and distill complex technical information to a variety of audiences
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 15 years’ related work, leadership, financial management, business development and consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
This position will primarily work in an office setting. Travel required to other Stantec office locations, the field and/or meetings with clients.
