Your Opportunity

You will lead a team of professionals in the design and construction of medium scale commercial projects in various sectors. The projects will be in various phases from conceptual planning, through design, construction, and occupancy.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Define the scope and develop Job Definition Document.

  • Develop budget and schedule in alignment with the scope.

  • Day-to-day project oversight and communication with the client and project team.

  • Develop, track, update, forecast and modify the project schedule and budget throughout all phases of the project.

  • Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors.

  • Prepare project status reports for client.

  • Lead Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) risk management program for the project

  • Assist in design reviews and inspections.

  • Keep project record according Stantec Standards.

  • Conduct and document quality reviews of all deliverables per Stantec procedures.

  • Understand and assist in the negotiation of contracts of all parties to the project.

  • Review and approval all invoices and change orders associated with the project.

  • Evaluate, advise on and assist in resolving disputes and claims.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong computer skills and literacy in scheduling, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software.

  • Estimating experience is an asset.

  • Understanding of and ability to read plans and specifications.

  • General understanding of design and construction process and requirements.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Good organizational skills and problem solving abilities.

  • Able to understand and comprehend the major process steps involved in executing capital projects.

  • Adequate knowledge in project deliverables like Process Flow Diagrams, P&ID’s, Area classification drawings, electrical one line drawings, etc.

  • Able to develop the project execution plan.

  • Request appropriate resources to execute the project work.

  • Project tracking/monitoring – budget and schedule with the help of project control personnel.

  • Perform engineering calculations to support the project

  • Follow and implement standard company specific project procedures

  • Ability to relate project drawings with field construction.

  • Soft skills to manage multidiscipline technical staff and promote team spirit to execute the project successfully.

  • Ability to control the quality of project deliverables.

  • Must have good driving record and valid Driver's License.

  • Prior to employment with Stantec, this position will require the successful passing of a drug and alcohol screen.

Education and Experience

6-8 years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience.

Experience working on engineering, design and/or construction projects.

Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent acquired experience through on-the-job consulting projects.

Oil and Gas industry experience a plus.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
