Your Opportunity

In this position as a Mechanical CAD Designer, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare contract piping drawings, specifications, schedules, details and sketches, and equipment models from conceptual design through to construction.

  • Facilitate and ensure the quality of the project deliverables.

  • Follow production guidelines and project standards in the department drafting standards manual.

  • Familiar with piping material specifications.

  • Ability to apply piping information from industry charts and guidelines.

  • Providing CAD design assistance for a wide variety of projects, from report stage through design and construction administration.

  • You will be expected to support team operations and play an integral part in the promotion of our health and safety culture

  • Coordinates with other professionals on assigned projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Thorough understanding of CAD Standards.

  • Ability to As-build Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Piping Plans, sections and isometrics.

  • Ability to work in AutoCAD model space/paper space to generate complete piping construction deliverable package, including: P&IDs, Plot Plan, Piping Plans, Isometric Details, Tie-in details/demolition details, Tank/vessel appurtenance drawings.

  • Understands principals of pipe thermal expansion.

  • Ability to transpose Piping and Instrumentation Diagram information, symbols and callouts.

  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team.

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.

  • Working knowledge of software programs including AutoCAD, CADWorx, and Adobe Acrobat. PDMS and Microstation experience a plus.

  • Working knowledge of advanced 3D geometry.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation

  • Eager to learn with strong listening and critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Field experience is preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to write clear, thorough technical reports.

  • Proven problem solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.Prior to employment with Stantec, this position will require the successful passing of a drug screen.

Education and Experience

Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3-7 years of experience.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
