Your Opportunity
The Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst is responsible for providing GIS services to a multidisciplinary team to deliver solutions to our internal and external clients in a shared services environment. As a GIS Analyst with Stantec you will provide technical support that includes web-based mapping, database administration, spatial analysis, and map production, as well as project coordination and support for assigned projects. The GIS Analyst determines client and business needs and proposes optimal GIS and geospatial technologies and solutions to meet those needs.
This is an exciting full-time position working within our Northeast region Environmental Services (ES) business operating unit within Stantec. In the Northeast region, Stantec’s ES group works with clients primarily in the Power, Transportation, Renewables, Federal, and Infrastructure Development sectors. We provide GIS and mapping services to a diversity of projects, such as environmental assessments, environmental permitting, routing & siting, Phase I & II site assessments, spills and remediation projects, wildlife and habitat monitoring, and heritage studies The position will be joining an existing dynamic 6-person GIS group to support exciting projects across North America and beyond. The desired candidate should be well rounded across the entire GIS platform.

Your Key Responsibilities
Apply GIS theories, principles, and software to efficiently meet project demands
Understand and manage defined budgets over the life cycle of a project
Complete both basic (e.g., georeferencing) and complex (e.g., suitability modeling) desktop GIS tasks and analyses
Configure and develop mobile data collection applications
Configure and develop web-based applications
Create maps and perform a wide range of geospatial analyses in support of environmental permitting, environmental field surveys, and construction compliance for a variety of power-related projects, including, but not limited to, high voltage transmission lines, wind and solar energy facilities, transportation infrastructure and oil and gas pipelines
Adhere to established cartographic standards and Quality Assurance / Quality Control processes
Manage a wide variety of project-specific and reference geospatial data in accordance with defined data management standards
Support geospatial field data collection efforts for a variety of environmental field surveys
Collaborate with existing GIS and CAD staff members across the company
Provide quality control / quality assurance of outgoing GIS deliverables
Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Well established understanding of GIS theory and principles (e.g., vector, raster, coordinate systems, projections, transformations, cartography)
Advanced knowledge and experience working with the Esri ArcGIS Platform (Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Enterprise), preferably in a virtualized environment
Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS Pro
Strong foundation in data acquisition, exploration, management, editing, analysis, and visualization
Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and transformations
Advanced cartographic skills for both desktop and web-based maps
Familiarity with ArcGIS Online associated applications (e.g., Dashboards, Web App Builder, StoryMaps, Experience Builder, Hub Sites)
Proficient with ArcGIS Online and/or Portal to publish project sensitive data within custom web maps and applications for data consumption by project teams, the client and/or public
Experience configuring ESRI mobile data collection applications (e.g., Field Maps, Survey123) to meet a wide variety of project field data collection needs
Understanding of remote sensing general principles and applications (e.g., LiDAR) and experience using derived data products (e.g., las dataset, DEM, DSM)
Familiarity with GIS / CAD data interoperability
Familiarity with Trimble Pathfinder Office and Trimble TerraSync data interoperability
Familiarity with 3-D visualization techniques within ArcGIS Pro
Basic experience with python scripting to automate tasks and/or strong interest in developing python scripting skillset

Able to occasionally travel overnight to support field data collection.
Holds valid state drivers license
Education and Experience
Bachelors or an advanced degree in GIS, geology, geomatics engineering, geotechnical engineering, life science, environmental science, or related field with demonstrated GIS training or coursework
Minimum of 3 years of professional applied experience providing GIS services
Prior experience within an environmental consulting environment valuable but not required
Article VII and Section 94-c experience preferred but not required
Advanced Web App Development experience preferred but not required
Advanced enterprise database management experience (Server, SDE, SQL) would be beneficial but not required
Licensing/Certifications:
- GISP is an asset but not required.

Salary Range(s):
- $57,100.00 - $82,800.00 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
