Our New York office is seeking a Senior Project Designer with experience in the commercial sector to join our multidisciplinary team.

Your Duties

The role of Senior Project Designer is towork with clients to establish and realize their project goals while guiding design teaminthe implementation. This individual willensure quality control and evaluate all design elements produced on a project. The Senior Project Designer will alsoguideand mentor design staff so they can reach their full potential. Additional responsibilities:

Early Planning/Programming/Workplace:

  • Establishing if programming or workplace strategy is required or desired to ensure a successfulproject overall

  • Helping client/team establish workplace goals and evaluate opportunities for

  • Coordinating key dates with project manager to insure proper team structure throughout

Schematic Design:

  • Guiding early discussions with client and team establishing design goals and opportunities -working with/mentoring design team to effectively plan the clients program and functioning

  • Reviewing and checking planning for general code compliance (specialty instances will occur where expediters/consultants will be needed)

  • Guiding client through establishing their projects requirements beyondbasic programming (equipment & spatial functions – requirements worksheet)

Design Development:

  • Developing and establishing project goals with design team

  • Guide design team in the creation of an overall concept

  • Guiding design team in developing renderings

  • Development of presentation

  • Presenting to client


  • Guiding client in main furniture selections – aiding design in specifying appropriate furniture solution

  • Aiding design in final selection of furniture & finishes

  • Reviewing all FF&E with client and acquiring sign off

Construction Documents:

  • Guiding design team through any more complicated detailing reviewing areas of elevated design (specialtyareas) – coordinating if aid/mentoring is needed

  • Review of important design/high function areas with client – acquire client sign off

  • General review of construction documents to ensure continuity with design goals

Contract Administration:

  • Any required clarifications with external team members.

  • Secondary review of design elevated areas (millwork shops, materials, arch details). Coordination of this timewith project manager.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • The ideal candidate will have10+ years’ experience in design and production

  • Strong design portfolio – commercial workplace, hospitality, lobby repositioning, etc.

  • Revit capable – he/she has good production skills (design, presentation, documentation)

  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, presentation
