Stantec’s Houston team has an opportunity for a Structural Project Engineer with large building construction experience. This individual will be working onsite at George Bush Intercontinental Airport supporting ongoing improvement projects.
As part of a Program Management Team, provide engineering oversight during the design and construction phases for projects related to the IAH Terminal Redevelopment Program (ITRP).
During the design process, interface with the design consultant, contractor, and project stakeholders during development of design, comment on design submittals for technical and functional compliance and quality assurance, provide input on value engineering assessments and recommendations on design alternatives for owner decision.
During construction, coordinate resolution of technical construction issues, review contractor's submittals for conformance with the construction documents, monitor contractor's activities regarding structural system installation and testing, and supervise structural inspections of installation work.
Supervise staff of office engineer(s) assigned to the Program.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering design of large building construction projects.
BS in appropriate engineering field
Professional registration preferred.
Management of the design, construction, and materials testing of major building construction projects associated with facility vertical and roof structural and enclosure systems; aviation facility experience desirable but not required.
Overall working knowledge of facility foundation works/ geotechnical requirements, structural framing, curtainwall, and related systems elements.
Establishment of collaborative relationships with stakeholders (owner, service providers, and government) involved in planning, design, construction, testing and turn-over of structural systems.
Experience in the planning and design of new and renovated/ expanded facilities while maintaining operations.
In-depth knowledge of City of Houston and associated referenced codes, standards and best practices for steel, timber, reinforced, pre-stress/ pre-cast concrete, and earth/ water retaining structural works.
