We have immediate opportunities for a GIS Technician to join our dynamic Environmental Services team in Edmonton . With a focus on local projects, the successful candidate will support a diverse team of environmental professionals providing services to multiple sectors. Key project responsibilities include supporting field assessments and quality report delivery in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects with a multi-disciplinary team; including environmental remediation, biophysical sciences, and environmental planning.
Key responsibilities may include all or some of the following:
Creating and maintaining multidisciplinary spatial information.
Assisting the GIS components of projects including scope and budget preparation.
Creation and updating of AutoCAD drawings.
Data conversion between ACAD and GIS.
Identification of data requirements and sources.
Maintaining and creating data integrity and metadata.
Preparation of cartographic products.
Field GPS data collection support.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
The ideal candidate will possess all or some of the following:
GIS degree or diploma from a recognized post secondary institution.
Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant GIS and CAD experience with preference given to candidates with biophysical or environmental data experience.
Proven skills using ESRI ArcGIS 10.x suite of products.
Understanding and proven experience working with and integrating spatial data in a variety of formats.
Working knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, and datums.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Independent problem-solving skills with the ability to work as part of a larger team.
