We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to join the team in our Regina, Saskatchewan office . The successful candidate will be onboarded in Calgary, Alberta for an estimated 3-4 months, and will then be based in Regina permanently.

Your Duties

  • Identify project resources needed and communicate needs to applicable department personnel

  • Create and execute project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements

  • Be the client key interface and primary point of communication

  • Defines general project support tasks to complete work, including client specific requirements

  • Direct Project Engineers and full engineering disciplines to meet project needs

  • Establish and execute project framework to promote quality, value, timeliness, and profitability

  • Provide overall risk management reporting at the project level

  • Develop reports throughout the project, including but not limited to, Progress Reports, Scope Description report, Flawless Start Up program report, and, Integrated Software Report

  • Develop an Integrated Project Execution Plan in concert with the contractor

  • Develop, maintain, and track progress against Master Project Schedule

  • Working with the design team and contractor, develop a cost escalation strategy, and a contracting strategy for use and refinement throughout the project

  • Approve and develop DBM, Scope documents, Work Breakdown Structures, Project Code Accounts, and Framing documents

  • Coordinate key meetings or review points: scope, engineering, design, specifications, PFD/P&ID drawings, line list, tie-in list, equipment lists, controls, HAZOP, construction early works, construction kick-off and support, etc. for completeness

  • Coordinate the development and issuance of a Facility Capacity report

  • Ensure local, provincial and federal codes and standards (both legislated and customer-specific) are being met

  • Monitor, assess and report progress within the projects to client

  • Develop and refine throughout, Project Cost Estimates, including a Basis of Estimate

  • Manage Project Cost Control, budget vs. actual

  • Track and report team hours and expenses

  • Analyze project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization

  • Implement an effective change management process

  • Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for projects

  • Follow up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices

  • Set, approve and define full scope/equipment requirements

  • Provide direction to Procurement for planning: vendor selection, prepare and issue request for quotations, vendor bid evaluations and selection, equipment

  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately

  • Promote the HSE program throughout all phases of the project

  • Liaise with other Project Managers, Program Manager, Engineering Manager, Project Engineers Manager, Clients, Vendors, etc.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Mechanical, Civil, or relevant Engineering Degree

  • Minimum 15 years of experience working with operating facilities, owner organizations, fabrication shops, and/or EPCM firms

  • Minimum 5 years of consulting engineering experience as a Project Manager

  • Lead engineering design executions role in projects with capital expenditures in excess of $20MM

  • Experience working in the downstream/refining oil and gas industry

  • Past experience supervising 5-10 other engineering staff/project teams is considered an asset

  • Experience with Canadian jurisdictions and their various acts and regulations

  • Team player who will encourage teamwork with the project team plus other discipline staff

  • High level of initiative and ability to complete tasks on schedule and budget

  • Focused on providing quality services to the clients in a timely manner

  • Exceptional client management skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills

  • Ability to mentor and desire to encourage junior staff

  • Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

  • Experience working with remote teams and multi-office execution

  • Proven experience in multidiscipline design coordination

  • Proven experience in developing innovative project execution strategies

  • Experience collaborating with fabricators and constructors/contractors to develop innovative strategies to resolve project issues

  • Experience in leading a design team to produce efficient, repeatable engineering designs

  • Travel to Calgary, Alberta may be required, for a prolonged period in some instances
